Come plant trees – Saturday, December 19th — Rt. 50 Shoulder Beautification Project

All,

Sorry for the last minute notice, but after many weeks of waiting for approval, BMCA received the VDOT permit to plant trees for our Rt. 50 Shoulder beautification project yesterday.

We will have a tree planting event THIS SATURDAY starting at 10 AM, gathering at in the grassy section of the shoulder at the intersection of the access road and Montague Street (also labeled as Nottingham). See the PowerPoint slide on our BMCA website blog for the location if you don’t know the area.

We have 29 small saplings to plant plus stake (see photo). We will have some shovels and picks on hand, but if you have your own please feel free to bring them.
We will need some help measuring and laying out where the saplings are to be planted at the start and then we can get to digging the holes!

It’s exciting to finally reach this stage of the project. Sorry that it took so late in the year to get to this point, but the warm and moist weather makes it still good for planting. The saplings can have a decent over winter, settle in, and spring forth in the spring. Hope some of you can make it.

Thanks,

Josh
